Jennie Freet is a self-taught artist based in the Smoky Mountains of Sevierville, Tennessee. She creates figurative work inspired by her home and heritage along the Appalachian Mountains.

Since she could hold a crayon, Jennie has been an artist. By the time she graduated high school, she was regularly doing commissioned work. Her first job at a tool and die shop allowed little bits of spare time to draw while she sat with the machines. She brought her colored pencils to work and did two jobs at once, sharpening her pencils with box cutters and drawing in every spare moment. She has done commissioned work for numerous patrons. Her favorites are family portraits that hold a sentimental value for the customer- a boy with his first deer, a family member that's passed on, and of course, the beloved pets. And working with author Julie Niblett, she illustrated the children's book, "The Talking Stick."

In the most recent years, Jennie has been building her own personal body of work, depicting a peaceful side of Appalachian culture that holds close to the values of family and a life connected to the natural world.
